Scott Stanchak has been an award-winning media personality and sports journalist since June 2000. During this time, he has appeared on such networks as Fox News, Time Warner, Cablevision and MTVU as a reporter and host. He’s also spent time in front of the microphone as a radio D.J. (Clear Channel, WRPR), host (WDVR) and anchor (WGHT).
The New Jersey native is also an established sports writer, having composed articles and columns for a variety of print and online media outlets, including Yahoo! Sports, FoxNews.com, NBA.com, WNBA.com, USABasketball.com and Livestrong.com. Stanchak’s writing career began in 2000 at The Hunterdon County Democrat, where for six years he was the paper’s minor league baseball reporter. His print work has also been featured by Sporting News Radio, The Star-Ledger, Connecticut Post and many others.
Stanchak has broken a number of major news stories over the years. Most recently, he conducted the first one-on-one interview with Rickey Henderson since he was named to the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame. The story appeared on Yahoo! Sports as the site’s lead headline. He was also credited as the first to report the Newark Bears folding by New Jersey’s largest newspaper, The Star-Ledger, and several other local and national news organizations.
Stanchak’s media credits extend behind the lens as well, where he’s worked as a television producer and writer. Furthermore, the 29-year-old has a passion for developing original online content, which has led to positions with AT&T (host/reporter/producer), FoxNews.com (reporter/producer), the National Basketball Association (editor/writer/producer) and Avis (manager of online content). He’s also the founder of two popular websites: CheapSeatsRadio.net, which takes readers inside the locker rooms of many of New York’s professional sports teams, and AtlanticLeagueBaseball.com, which remained the league’s number-one news source for over six years until Scott sold it in 2010.
Over the years, Stanchak has sat down with some of the biggest superstars in the world for exclusive interviews, including LeBron James, Brett Favre, Tiger Woods, Tom Brady, Sidney Crosby, Derek Jeter, Shaquille O’Neal, Rickey Henderson, Martin Brodeur, Kobe Bryant, Aaron Rodgers, Donald Trump, among hundreds of others. He’s also covered games at almost every stadium in the New York metropolitan area, namely Yankee Stadium (old and new), Giants Stadium, MetLife Stadium, Madison Square Garden, Prudential Center, Radio City Music Hall and over a dozen more. This access has allowed Stanchak to report on everything from the NFL playoffs to NBA All-Star weekend, the PGA TOUR’s Barclay’s Golf Tournament to the WNBA Finals.
Currently, Stanchak is the Manager, Online Content at Avis Budget Group, where he is overseeing the company’s digital content strategy on Avis.com. Stanchak also continues to create unique textual and multimedia content for his professional sports website, CheapSeatsRadio.net.
